I got involved drawing and writing comics while working as a full-time graphic artist and as a freelance illustrator.  Some projects I worked on were not as enlightened as I had hoped...

Along with my Subway Pen drawings, I would write about work incidents and my feelings about them in a journal.  Then I'd elaborate with little cartoons in my sketchbook during my subway rides.

After writing about my career issues I realized why I was frustrated.  I’d hadn’t seen or read my particular story.  TONS of stereotypes to go around, though!  But, nothing reflected who I am.   I was feeling what happens when you constantly leave the story telling up to someone else.  So, I began to write about my life growing up in the suburbs and living in the city.

With comics, more enlightened opportunities presented themselves to me...
